The Sandringham Community Bank Day Procedure Centre® has had a successful first year – providing more than 2100 locals with expert care through their day procedures.

On August 14 last year, (then) Victorian Minister for Health Jill Hennessey officially opened the centre after the Bayside community rallied to fundraise $2.5 million for the project.

Day Procedure Centre manager Sharon Zantuck said the new facility had improved patient flow throughout the hospital.

“We’ve been able to admit all of our elective surgery patients through the Day Procedure Centre which has been a huge bonus, it takes the pressure off our wards and ensures a more comfortable experience for patient,” Ms Zantuck said.

“We’re so thankful to the community for getting behind this project – Sandringham Hospital really is a community hospital and it’s rewarding that we’re able to expand to meet the needs of the people who support us.”

From day one, patients have enjoyed the modern, open space where they can prepare and recover from day procedures including orthopaedic, general, ophthalmology and gynaecology surgery.
