Have you been involved in a transport accident?

If your attendance is related to a transport accident injury, it is important that you lodge a claim with the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) to access the support you need to cover the cost of your treatment.

We know that recovering from an accident can be difficult. We are here to support you, so that you can concentrate on getting well.

If your attendance or admission at Alfred Health is related to a transport accident, you are required to lodge a claim. Our Hospital staff will guide you through the claiming process please call the Finance Patient Liaison Team who will visit you on the ward and discuss how they can assist you with lodging a no fault accident claim.

The TAC is a ‘no fault’ scheme, which means that a person’s entitlement to compensation is not affected by who is at fault.  If you have been injured in a transport accident, TAC funds medical treatment and support services costs.

The type and amount of support you receive, and the length of time you need support, will depend on your circumstances. Support can include:

  • medical treatment
  • services to help you while you recover
  • income support if you can’t work because of your accident injuries
  • return to work support for you and your employer

If you have successfully lodged a claim, the TAC will pay for all reasonable costs (medical treatment, rehabilitation services, disability services, and income assistance) and other services that may be needed as a result of injuries sustained in a transport accident. This starts from the time of your admission.

Our Hospital staff will guide you through the claiming process. You will be required to make an alternative election in the event that your claim is rejected.

If you are an overseas visitor, you will be responsible for all costs in the event that your TAC claim is rejected.
