A/Prof James Hare
Associate Professor James Hare is Deputy Director and Head of Non-invasive Cardiology.
He is a senior Consultant Cardiologist in the Heart Failure and Transplantation service and is an Associate Professor (Clinical Adjunct) at Monash University.
A/Prof Hare specialises in advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation, and non-invasive cardiac imaging, with particular expertise in echocardiography, cardiac MRI, and cardiac amyloidosis.
He completed his medical degree with honours at Monash University, followed by specialist training in cardiology and then a PhD in advanced cardiac imaging at the University of Queensland. Subsequently, he completed a post-doctoral fellowship in cardiac MRI at the Libin Cardiovascular Institute, University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
He is an active member of several national and international professional organisations, including the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand, Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, European Society of Cardiology, American Heart Association, and the International Society of Amyloidosis.
A/Prof Hare has published and presented extensively in the field, is actively involved in multi-centre clinical trials, and remains committed to education and clinical research in heart failure and imaging.
