A/Prof Alexander Chamberlain
A/Prof Alex Chamberlain obtained Fellowship of the Australasian College of Dermatologists in 2004 and has been a visiting dermatologist at the Victorian Melanoma Service since 2005.
A/Prof Chamberlain holds an appointment as Adjunct Associate Professor at Monash University School of Translational Medicine and has enjoyed working at The Alfred since 1994. He was Clinical Research Fellow in Oxford between 2001 and 2003 and returned in 2007 to complete a fellowship in dermoscopy and multi-disciplinary skin cancer management (F.C. Florance Bequest).
A/Prof Chamberlain has authored over 70 publications in peer-reviewed journals along with multiple book chapters. He has contributed to or coordinated educational courses on skin cancer for the Australasian College of Dermatologists, Monash University, University of Queensland, University of Wales, Skin and Cancer Foundation, Cancer Council of Victoria, Skin Cancer Society of Australia and HealthCert. He was a contributor to the latest revision of the Cancer Council Australia Clinical Practice Guidelines for the management of cutaneous melanoma. His main areas of expertise are dermoscopy, dermato-oncology including non-surgical management of skin cancer, along with disorders of nails. He currently sits on the ACD National exam committee.
In 2022 he co-edited the 2nd edition of “Diagnostic Dermoscopy” a textbook published by Wiley-Blackwell along with colleagues Dr Jonathan Bowling and Prof John Paoli.
