Hidden Disabilities Sunflower

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is an international symbol to show that the user has a hidden disability or chronic condition that is not obvious.  

What is a hidden disability? 

There are many hidden disabilities and chronic conditions which are not immediately obvious.  

This may mean you or a loved one need some extra support when coming to hospital.  

It can include physical, visual and auditory, autism, dementia, anxiety and respiratory conditions. These conditions can be permanent or temporary.

What is the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower? 

By wearing a sunflower you are letting us know you might need some extra help, some extra time and understanding.  

Our staff are taking part in training so they can recognise the sunflower and provide you with the help you need.  

While the sunflower will not speed up how quickly you are seen, it will help us to support you while you wait.  

Where can I get a sunflower? 

A small number of sunflower products will be available at some of our outpatient clinics and via our disability liaison officers.

Products are also available via the online shop on the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower website.
