Working to resolve interruption to heating and hot water [Update: 3 October at 8:00 PM]
Engineers are working to repair The Alfred’s steam system, which malfunctioned this afternoon.
Repairing the steam system, which supports hot water and heating across parts of the hospital, is expected to take up to 24 hours.
Alfred Health chief executive, Prof Andrew Way said patient safety and comfort remain our priorities.
“While most hospital operations have been able to continue, the outage has impacted some of our operating theatres,” Prof Way said.
“We have rescheduled some non-urgent surgery to ensure we have capacity to continue treating emergency and trauma patients.”
“We appreciate the cooperation of patients and staff while we fix this older part of our infrastructure.”
