Dr Hariharan Sugumar

Dr Hari Sugumar is a specialist cardiologist and electrophysiologist.

Dr Sugumar completed his medical degree at Uni Melb and specialised in Cardiology at Austin Health and sub-specialised in Electrophysiology and Cardiac Devices, including CRT. He completed advanced training in Canada, followed by a PhD through the Baker, Uni Melb, Alfred and RMH.

He has received several prestigious awards, including the NHMRC-NHF Research Fellowship. His research focused on AF and its impact on heart failure, exploring both reduced and preserved ejection fraction. He has coordinated international randomised controlled trials and multi-centre studies on catheter ablation in AF, with publications in NEJM, The Lancet, JACC, and Heart Rhythm.

Dr Sugumar practices at Alfred Health and Cabrini Hospitals. He is widely recognised for his approachable manner and patient-centred care.
