All Alfred Health hospital campuses provide haemodialysis for patients with end stage renal failure requiring renal replacement therapy. They all have very close links with the Renal Unit at The Alfred.

Clinical service overview

The Alfred Dialysis Unit

An acute in-centre haemodialysis unit. It provides an outpatient service as well as acute dialysis support services for CCU, ICU, ED, and 7 West. An on-call service is provided out of hours.

The Caulfield Haemodialysis Unit

A satellite chronic haemodialysis unit. It provides an outpatient service as well as providing support for patients in Caulfield hospital with ESKD requiring dialysis.

The Sandringham Haemodialysis Unit

A satellite chronic haemodialysis unit. The majority of patients are from The Alfred and Monash Hospital however we accept referrals from most major hospitals.

We also provide:

The Peritoneal Dialysis Home Training Unit which is located in Ward 7 West. The day unit is staffed by Clinical Nurse Specialists, who provide a comprehensive peritoneal dialysis training program and ongoing support for patients and carers.

The Home Haemodialysis Training Unit which is co-located in the Alfred Haemodialysis unit in Ward 4ADU. It provides an intensive home dialysis training program and ongoing support for existing patients.
