Smoking support for staff

We aim to create a workplace that promotes health and wellbeing, recognising the vital link between staff health and outstanding patient care.

Best practice support and funded nicotine replacement therapy as appropriate is provided to staff through our ‘Good News for Smokers’ campaign.

“After 44 years of smoking, I finally started to make an attempt at stopping.  I made an appointment at the Smokefree Clinic and thankfully they started me on the course to become a non-smoker. They provided the information and knowledge but most importantly let me vent my frustrations and discuss why I was giving up; reminded me to take it one day at a time. I did relapse a few times before I became totally smoke free on the first of April, 2019.

It was tough but I didn’t stop smoking alone and that was important to me. I also saw a psychologist to help deal with my wanting to smoke due to stressful situations. Being supported and accountable each week to someone, kept me on track - I could text or make an appointment and someone was always available. I now feel better, look better and I can breathe without a wheeze! I can deal with life’s challenges without a cigarette to get me through as I have learnt the tools to cope.”
