Caring – Specialties and pathways

Alfred Health is a dynamic health service that values the contribution of nurses and the importance of nursing in improving patient outcomes.

This is a unique workplace for talented, compassionate and smart nurses, who want to practice nursing at its’ highest levels and who are ready to meet the demands our our dynamic health system.

We have developed the Alfred Health Nursing Professional Practice Framework to define key elements of nursing practice and drive exceptional patient outcomes.

Our Nursing Professional Practice Framework is an essential reference for nurses working in clinical practice, education, management or nursing research. Our framework assists nurses to be excited about nursing practice, encouraged with their career options and shows how the care they deliver makes a difference to patient and family outcomes.

There are many opportunities and pathways available to Alfred Health nurses.

On this page you will read about our specialties and other opportunities, including our transition to practice programs and advanced practice roles.

Specialties and statewide services

Alfred Health is one of Australia’s leading healthcare services. We have a dual role: caring for more than 700,000 locals who live in inner-southern Melbourne, and providing health services for Victorians experiencing the most acute and complex conditions through our statewide services, as well as one of Victoria’s leading Emergency & Trauma Centres
