Nursing Education has strong relationships with a number of leading universities in Australia.
Alfred Heath and Nursing Education partner with a number of leading universities in Australia including La Trobe, Monash and Deakin Universities to offer specialty postgraduate courses. Postgraduate courses are available in numerous specialties from Graduate Certificate, Diploma to Masters//PhD level.
Our postgraduate programs include:

- Perioperative/Perianaesthesia
- Emergency
- Intensive Care
- Trauma nursing coming in 2023
If you are interested in postgraduate study at Alfred Health please view our recently listed nursing jobs. Nurses working within Alfred Health are supported to enrol in postgraduate studies.
Emergency, ICU and Perioperative clinical areas also have Transition to Specialty Practice Programs and our trauma area has a supported learning pathway or a ‘Learning Journey’ for new staff to the clinical areas. These programs are excellent preparation for nurses to progress to post graduate studies in the specialty area. Nurses are required to be working in these areas to access these programs.
Postgraduate study is encouraged at Alfred Health, and staff are supported through the provision of a range of postgraduate scholarships, Nurse Educator support, professorial academic support from La Trobe and the support of a Clinical Chair in Nursing (a joint appointment with Deakin University).
The Deakin/Alfred Nursing Research Centre is a collaborative partnership with the School of Nursing, Deakin University, which provides opportunities to inform nursing practice through research. In addition, nurses can pursue further studies in research by undertaking the Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) degree, Master of Nursing and PhD. Scholarships are available to support nurses to undertake these studies.
Postgraduate programs are available in numerous specialties. The La Trobe/Alfred Clinical School of Nursing is part of the La Trobe University School of Nursing and Midwifery and is located at the Alfred campus.
Postgraduate courses are available from Graduate Certificate through to Masters/PhD level in the following specialties:

Scholarships are available to support staff members to undertake studies in these areas.
