Australian Disease Management Association

ADMA is a not-for-profit group which represents all stakeholders in the industry and provides educational activities to health care organisations, providers, funders and health care policy makers on disease management.

There has been substantial growth in the awareness and implementation of disease management initiatives across Australia. There are various models or components to Disease Management which include self-management, case management, behaviour change, health risk assessments, telephone or online coaching, outreach visits, coordinated clinics, disease specific programs and programs for complex co-morbid patients. These occur in a range of settings including acute hospitals, general practice, community health, private health funds, call centres, workplaces and home environments.

Information exchange of disease management experience and evaluations continues to be integral in determining quality, effectiveness and credibility.

ADMA's objectives

ADMA’s current objectives are to:

• Be a clearing house for disease management expertise
• Promote and extend the understanding of Disease Management in Australia
• Promote evidence-based Disease Management
• Provide resources to its members that may assist them in the delivery of their services,
• Facilitate information exchange and education regarding disease management in Australia and internationally
• Provide consultancy, advocacy and policy advice in disease management in Australia and internationally
• Develop links with relevant stakeholders including Federal and State Government Groups and private industry groups
• Coordinate forums such as a national conference, seminars and workshops in Australia
• Develop links with International Disease Management Associations
• Attract new members
