What we do

We provide the following services:

• Assessment and/or diagnosis of a genetic condition
• Genetic or genomic testing services including genetic counselling relating to genetic/genomic testing options and outcomes, ordering of genetic/genomic tests and interpretation of test results
• Advice about ways to manage health or future health risks
• Genetic counselling and support related to issues arising from a genetic diagnosis
• Referral to relevant research studies

Who we care for

Our services provides care for people who are aged over the age of 18 and where they have a personal and/or family history of a health condition suspected to be caused by a known inherited condition.

Your doctor can check to see if you are eligible for our service by checking our referral criteria.

What to expect

Once your referral is received, you will be contacted by a member of our team. We will discuss your referral and may need to collect more information about your personal health history and, where possible, the health history of other family members. This information is required to provide you an accurate advice.

You will be offered an appointment to discuss whether your personal and/or family history is related to an inherited condition, any available genetic testing options, and/or ways to manage any health risks for you and your family. If genetic testing is arranged, follow up appointment/s will be made to discuss the results as well as provide any additional support and advice regarding health care for you and your family.

Appointments are held in person or where appropriate by video call.

How to access this service

Referral from your GP or specialist

You need a referral letter from your GP or medical practitioner to access this service.

Your doctor will need to fax or email your referral letter to us. We will be in contact with you in clinically recommended times, depending on waiting list length. If there is no waiting list, you will receive an appointment booking letter or we will contact you to arrange a suitable time.
