Our specialist team consists of:
- Medical Oncologists – Doctors who specialize in the treatment of cancer using chemotherapy and other medications.
- Medical Oncology Registrar – Highly trained doctors who is undergoing further training to become a Medical Oncologist.
- Nurses – Experts who assess and care for patients during their cancer treatment. Nurses help with the identification and management of complications and side-effects, and referrals to other support services.
- Administration staff - Staff who assist patients with medical appointments, collate important medical information, and manage patient records.
- Students – Alfred Health is a teaching hospital committed to shaping the next generations of health care experts. Students may be involved in patient care while under the supervision of qualified staff. If you do not wish for students to be present, please inform staff.
Prof Mark Shackleton is the Director of Oncology at Alfred Health, a Professor of Oncology at Monash University, Chair of Melanoma and Skin Cancer Trials Ltd, and Co-Director of the Monash Partners Comprehensive Cancer Consortium.
Dr Maggie Moore is a medical oncologist specialising in the treatment of melanoma, lung and breast cancers.
Dr Ben Markman is a consultant medical oncologist at The Alfred and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine Nursing and Health Sciences, Monash University.
Lucy Gately is a medical oncologist with a special interest in Breast Cancer and Brain Cancer, and a strong focus on survivorship and improving quality of life during treatment and beyond.
Prof John Zalcberg is a medical oncologist at Alfred Health and until recently, was the Head of the Cancer Research Program in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University.
Dr Libby Blackley is a medical oncologist specialising in the management of breast cancer.
Dr Andrews is a Medical Oncologist and Head of Immuno-oncology at The Alfred, and Senior Research Fellow at Monash University.
Dr Mahesh Iddawela is a clinician-scientist interested in precision Oncology, genomics and health services research and treat genitourinary, breast, and gynaecological cancer patients, as well as running the cancer survivorship clinic at The Alfred.
Dr Evangeline Samuel is a medical oncologist and clinical researcher with a special interest in lung, gastrointestinal and breast cancers.
