Bron sets ambitious fundraising target for Dry July

7 June 2024

A desire to beat her previous lofty fundraising record is driving one Alfred Health staff member ahead of this year’s Dry July challenge.

Radiation oncology revenue administrator Bronwen Leslie, who has been at Alfred Health for more than 20 years, is aiming to raise more than $3800 for the Alfred Cancer program this year, which would surpass her previous record set in 2018.

“Over the years, money from Dry July fundraising has gone to make some very significant improvements at Alfred Cancer,” Bron said. “It is a much nicer environment for patients and staff.”

“We have a new garden area, a new reception area on the ground floor of radiation oncology, music therapy, accommodation for rural patients, transport for people in need ... the list goes on.”

Bron is one of 21 people signed up for Team Alfred to take part in Dry July and raise money for The Alfred, supporting our cancer patients and staff.

“It has been such a great support from the wonderful people at Dry July, they do very good work,” she said. “Seeing all the improvements makes it rewarding being able to contribute and raise money for Dry July

While the challenge doesn’t officially start until next month, Bron has already raised more than $1600.

“I’d love to raise more than $3800. I know the cost of living at the moment sucks, but it all adds up. I will be thrilled with any size donation,” she said.
