Polo for a purpose
Thank you to The Alfred’s Life Support Committee and all their generous guests for another extraordinary day at the Portsea Polo.
The Life Support committee has been a vital contributor to The Alfred for over 15 years. Initially formed following the devastation of the Bali Bombings, its founding members were united by a shared philanthropic vision to help the hospital minimise the devastating impact of trauma on the community.
Fifteen years later, and the group continues to go from strength to strength – as illustrated by this year’s memorable fundraiser at the Portsea Polo.
With generous support from NAB, The Alfred Foundation marquee drew on a ‘tropical’ theme to treat guests to a glamorous afternoon of fine food, summer fashion, and exciting polo play. Attendees braved the squally and often wet conditions to enjoy an unforgettable day, knowing that their ticket price would go towards supporting clinical care at The Alfred.
The events fundraising will go towards supporting the hospital’s Trauma Service Expansion – a visionary development that will provide our trauma patients with a new model of care that focuses on early access to treatments and integrated rehabilitation in the acute stage of their recovery.
The Alfred was also given the opportunity to sell the official event hats – with all proceeds going towards the hospital’s trauma service.
A big thank you to the hospital’s trauma staff who generously volunteered their time to sell the hats to the thousands of guests in attendance – giving everyone the chance to buy a lasting memento of the day as well as show their support for The Alfred and our patients.
