Team Alfred represented at the Great Bristol Half Marathon

Jacob & Lauren at the finish line.

Half a world away from home, Jacob Davidge was living and working in Melbourne, experiencing an Australian summer when tragedy struck.

Jacob had a fall at work, his accident resulted in serious head and neck injuries. He was looked after at The Alfred for 10 days, nine months later he’s back home – cheering on his sister Lauren and celebrating his birthday.

On Sunday 23rd September, Jacob’s sister Lauren ran the Great Bristol Half Marathon.  Despite challenging conditions an estimated 10,000 runners took part in the event, encountering some serious wind and rain to complete the 13.1-mile course around one of the UK’s most dynamic cities.

My family and I are very grateful for the care and support he was given by the wonderful staff and I would like to show my appreciation by fundraising towards the expansion of their trauma service, helping others who one day may need treatment and care.

Thank you Lauren for your 13.1 miles or 21.1 kilometres in support of The Alfred and helping people on their own road to recovery and Happy Birthday Jacob!
