Thank you for the music – Sandra Jackson Tribute, it was simply the best
What better way to celebrate the life and legacy of the bright spark that was Sandra Jackson than with a night of music to raise funds for Pulmonary Fibrosis research at The Alfred.
Music was Sandra’s passion and drove her as a person, moulding her identity and bringing love and joy into her life. Together with her husband Esric, Sandra’s music career spanned more than four decades. The tribute organised by her family had a galaxy of some of the best local musicians as well as other fabulous artists from across Australia and overseas. All giving their time and talent in honour of Sandra.
The 29th of June 2019 was exactly one year to the day since Sandra passed away. To mark the anniversary, guests enjoyed a three course meal, non-stop music and the opportunity to bid on an amazing eight night tour of Sri Lanka.
$22,000 was raised at the Sandra Jackson Tribute Night. The funds will go towards supporting research into Pulmonary Fibrosis at The Alfred. The tribute show included performances from a number of artists both from Australia and overseas, including Sandra’s husband Esric Jackson and daughter Tatum Steers. All of the artists were people Sandra had performed with over the years.
Fittingly the show finished on Esric’s rendition of “To Love Somebody” by Michael Bolton, followed by a cover of “Simply The Best” – Sandra’s theme/anthem song.
Overall the night was a huge success that surpassed the family’s expectations. The event was made possible through the generosity and kindness of the community, a network of amazing people who wanted to pay tribute to someone they loved.
Sandra’s family and the Sandra Jackson Benevolent Committee are truly grateful to all those who attended the event, to those who sponsored the event, and to everyone who was not able to attend but made donations in memory of Sandra.
