The Older Adult Mental Health Community service (also known as MAPS) provides mental health services to older adults living in the Inner South of Melbourne. We are part of Alfred Mental and Addiction Health.

MAPS is part of the Older Adult Mental Health service located at St Kilda Road Clinic, Level 6, 607 St Kilda Road, Melbourne.

What we do

Our services

Client support:

  • Specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment and management for mental health conditions
  • Individualised case management for comprehensive care
  • Coordination with GPs, specialists and community organisations for aged care
  • Home, aged care, and residential service visits
  • Collaboration and support for personal recovery goals
  • Cultural sensitivity with interpreters and bilingual staff for cultural and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities

Family and carer support:

  • Family or carer guidance, information and referrals
  • Involvement in treatment decisions and planning
  • Consumer, carer and family education about managing mental health conditions

Community support:

  • Education to aged care homes, aged care agencies and non-government organisations about supporting clients with mental health conditions

We assist individuals aged 65 years and over with mental health challenges, including:

  • Depression and anxiety
  • Schizophrenia and psychosis
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Psychological and behavioural issues related to dementia

After a referral, our team will contact you to arrange a time for an assessment.

What to bring

Every time you come

  • Medicare card
  • Health Care Card and/or concession card (if you have one)
  • Private health insurance card (if applicable/if you want to use it)
  • Adverse drug alert card (if you have one)
  • Previous X-ray films, scans, ultrasounds or any other test results or reports
  • Medicines you need to take while you are here
  • Medications list (or the boxes), including over-the-counter supplements (e.g. herbal supplements, vitamins)
  • Glasses, hearing aids, or mobility aids, as needed
