Our cancer support services
We offer an extensive and comprehensive range of support services for our patients with cancer, their carers and support people.
Late Effects Clinic
The term late effects is used to describe health problems caused by blood cancer or its treatment (including stem cell transplantation) that occur months or years after completion of therapy. Late effects can affect a person's physical, emotional, social or spiritual wellbeing.
We specialise in caring for, managing and treating people who may have a range of ongoing health problems caused by blood cancer or its treatment.
Home based cancer service
Our Hospital in the Home (HITH) service provides care for you in your own home.
After a stay in hospital, we aim to get you home as early as possible, and provide the care you would otherwise receive in hospital. You remain under the care of the ward or unit you were admitted to and are seen by nurses who deliver your care needs.
Social Work
Social Work (also called Patient & Family Services) aims to identify and address the psychosocial impacts of illness and hospitalisation for you and your family.
We provide a range of services to help in improving your independence and quality of life. We can also help to make you have a smooth transition from hospital to home.
Carer Services
At Alfred Health Carer Services, we support people who care.
Every caring journey has its challenges. Maintaining your own health and wellbeing is important. We can help you find the most useful supports for your situation.
Palliative Care
Palliative care is an approach which improves the quality of life of patients and their families who are facing the problems associated with life-threatening illness.
We do this through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification, impeccable assessment and treatment of pain and other problems - physical, psychosocial and spiritual.
