Clinical service overview
We are one of two adult haemopoietic stem cell transplant facilities in the state.
Our multidisciplinary approach for the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of haematological disease involves staff from infectious diseases, radiation oncology, palliative care and allied health.
We are part of the Clinical Haematology service. We perform both allogeneic and autologous stem cell transplants. More than 120 bone marrow transplants are performed each year.
We offer diagnosis and care for patients with:
- bone marrow diseases, including leukaemia
- lymphoma
- multiple myeloma and related disorders
- the need for stem cell transplantation
- late effects
Our research
Research is an integral part of our work, with our staff involved in numerous international, national and in-house clinical trials. The focus of this work is an extension of the pre-clinical laboratory research within the department and primarily explores novel anti-cancer therapies for malignant blood diseases such as leukaemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma.
