At Alfred Health, we embrace our differences and take every opportunity to celebrate diversity.

Employee networks

Feeling a sense of belonging and community is important. At Alfred Health, we welcome staff to explore the employee networks currently available:

  • Equity and Inclusion Collaborative – This is a group for all staff to connect and share their passion for equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Disability Employee Network - A safe space for staff with a disability to connect.
  • We also encourage you to start up your own employee network! You can always reach out to our equity and inclusion team for support in doing this.

Your entitlements

We appreciate that you are more than just an employee - you are a person with a life outside of the workplace, and balancing that can be difficult at times. It’s important that you are supported holistically. In addition to your business-as-usual entitlements, we have the following available: flexible work options, family violence leave, gender affirmation leave and a workplace adjustments policy (in development).

Facilities and support

We strive to provide an accessible and inclusive workplace for all our staff. Some facilities of interest include our new parents rooms (breast and chest feeding spaces), a sensory room (Alfred Campus only) and multiple contemplative spaces (prayer, reflection and multi-faith spirituality rooms).

Alfred Health is a proud participant in the Hidden Disability Sunflower Initiative, to increase awareness and provide support to, people with hidden disabilities.

Equity and inclusion strategies at Alfred Health:

Gender Equality Action Plan - this plan outlines Alfred Health’s strategies to promote gender equality in the workplace.

Access and Inclusion Plan  - this plan helps to ensure that everyone, whatever their abilities, can get the healthcare and job opportunities they deserve.

Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) - this plan has been led by the Aboriginal Health Advisory Group and is underpinned by self-determination. This Innovate RAP allows us to continue working towards our vision for reconciliation; one that strives to achieve equal health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and an inclusive and diverse workplace that champions cultural safety.
