Dr Rondhir Jithoo
Dr Ron Jithoo trained in neurosurgery in Durban South Africa and Melbourne Australia. He graduated with Deans Commendation in his medical degree and obtained the Registrar Prize of the South African Society of Neurosurgery.
Dr Jithoo is a VMO neurosurgeon at The Alfred / Royal Darwin hospitals and past acting head of the Department of Neurosurgery at The Alfred.
He is past secretary of the Neurosurgery Society of Australasia and advisor for Traumatic Brain Injury to the Federal Health Minister.
He holds statutory appointments to the Veterans Review Board and the Victorian Workcover Board and is a member of the Victorian State Trauma Case Review committee.
He has deployed to the Middle East Region as a reservist neurosurgeon for the ADF and participated in DFAT missions to Fiji and Myanmar for surgical outreach programs.
He is an examiner for the Final FRACS Neurosurgery exams and is interested in remote area surgery outreach. He is an adjunct research Fellow for the National Trauma Research Institute (Monash).He is part of the Brain Trauma Foundation austere guidelines working group.
