Prof Jeffrey V. Rosenfeld
Professor Jeffrey V. Rosenfeld AC, OBE is Senior Neurosurgeon and former Director in the Department of Neurosurgery at The Alfred; Emeritus Professor of Surgery, Monash University; Adjunct Professor in Surgery at the F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine, Uniformed Services University of The Health Sciences (USUHS), Bethesda, USA; Honorary Professor of Surgery, University of Papua New Guinea; and Adjunct Professor of Surgery, Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has also had a long career as a military surgeon in the Australian defence Force.
He has particular research interests in improving the outcome for patients with traumatic brain injury and in the brain computer interface, and has been involved since 2010 in the development of the Monash Bionic Vision brain implant, restoring sight to blind individuals using a wireless electrode interface with the brain.
He is also a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences, the Australian Academy Technological Sciences and Engineering, and an International Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. He has published over 344 peer reviewed articles, 64 book chapters and 2 books.
