Stay home and stay well
We’re urging our community to stay home as much as possible to help limit the spread of COVID-19. By staying at home and limiting your contact with other people, you can all help to reduce the spread of the virus, and reduce its impact on the healthcare system.
As per advice from the Victorian Government, there are only four reasons for people to leave their homes:
- to shop for food and other necessary goods and services
- to access medical services or provide caregiving
- for exercise
- to attend work or education (where you can’t do those things remotely).
Our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team have been preparing around the clock for an expected surge in patients needing critical care. However, less people will need critical care if more people isolate themselves at home.
“It’s really important at the moment that you stay home,” said Steve McGloughlin, director of ICU.
“While we know what to do in ICU, you really don’t want to have to come to hospital. You want to stay well and stay at home.”
