The Alfred will kick off its annual Father’s Day Appeal on Friday 31 August and this year there’s a special twist – every dollar raised will be multiplied by four.

For the first time ever, the one-day-only G1VE4DADS appeal will set out to reach a colossal target of $800,000. All funds raised will go towards buying specialised, life-saving equipment for The Alfred.

Alfred Health Chief Executive, Professor Andrew Way, said this year’s campaign will support the integral work The Alfred does and will continue to do.

“This year, every dollar donated during The Alfred G1VE4DADS appeal will be multiplied by four – so your gift will be worth four times as much,” Professor Way said.

“Last year, The Alfred cared for more than 90,000 patients, including 9000 of the state’s most severely injured trauma patients. That’s a lot of people who will be enjoying Father’s Day this year thanks to our expert team.”

One of those trauma patients is James Lake, who will celebrate his first Father’s Day with baby Spencer on Sunday.

James came to The Alfred in January this year with severe burns after he was hit by a “fireball of methylated spirits” during an accident with a camping stove.

“Spencer was only six weeks old when I was admitted to the burns unit at The Alfred,” James said.

“The staff were so supportive and incredible at what they do – they really looked after us. This appeal is a great opportunity for the community to give back for everything this hospital does.”

The appeal, which is proudly supported by Bulla Family Dairy, will kick off at 6am on Friday 31 August. Find out more or sign up to donate
