Critical and realistic review of the impact of vitamin D in areas of clinical medicine and clinical practice.
Alfred Hepatology researchers published a meta-analysis and systematic review regarding vitamin D and virological response to interferon-based therapy for chronic hepatitis C (Kitson MT et al., J Hepatol 2014).
Results of their analysis did not support the notion that circulating levels of vitamin D are predictive of sustained virological response to interferonbased therapy.
This work has had a considerable impact, as the ‘magic’ associated with vitamin D in many areas of clinical medicine undergoes critical and realistic review to inform clinical practice.
