Clinical service overview
The Lung Transplant service is one of the largest in the world, performing 5% of all lung transplantations and covering the southern Australian states and New Zealand.
It has strong links to clinical programs in severe interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension and severe COPD and has performed over 500 lung transplants.

Inpatient referral only
A referral from an Alfred Specialist or other hospital treating team is essential for accessing this service.
Special referral instructions
For lung transplant assessment, refer your patients to the General Respiratory Clinic. If they are appropriate for lung transplant assessment, then the Alfred respiratory physician will refer them to the lung transplant assessment clinic.Resources
