Dr Abhishek (Abhi) Verma
Dr Abhishek Verma is an experienced clinician and non-executive director in the healthcare sector, with substantial experience in clinical governance and medical regulation. In addition to maintaining a number of portfolio board roles, Dr Verma remains active in clinical practice, and in 2022 he received the Victorian GP of the Year Award as well as the Australian GP of the Year Award.
Dr Verma currently serves as a member of the Victorian Medical Board, working with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency). Dr Verma was appointed to this role by the Minister for Health, and is the youngest person appointed to this board since the commencement of the national registration scheme. He is currently a director of Peoplecare Health Limited and Yea & District Health, as well as member of the RACGP Victoria Faculty Council. He previously served on the Board of Edenhope & District Memorial Hospital, where he was Chair of the Clinical Governance Committee.
Dr Verma holds undergraduate degrees in medicine (University of New South Wales) as well as a Master of Surgery (University of Sydney), and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He also holds formal post-graduate qualifications in corporate and clinical governance.
