Nursing archives

The Alfred Hospital Nurses League was established by senior nurses in 1918 to ensure that nurses could establish a permanent link with their nursing school and the friends they had made there.

As well as meeting regularly to promote good fellowship and exchange of ideas, the League also developed and maintains The Alfred’s nursing archives.

The archives includes a compilation of reminiscences, collection of items, documents, stories and research from Alfred nurses past and present. It is the only independent, self governing, not for profit, membership based nursing archives in Victoria.

Research enquiries, nurse tours, exhibitions and item donations and visitors are encouraged.
