Our recruitment process matches the GNMP PMCV Allocation and Placement Service timeline and eligibility criteria.
How to apply
To apply for a position in Alfred Health’s Graduate Nurse Program (General) or Graduate Nurse Program (Mental and Addiction Health) follow these steps:
1. Register with the Allocation and Placement service and select your preferred stream at Alfred Health i.e. “General or Mental Health”.
Alfred Health participates in the Graduate Nurse and Midwifery Program (GNMP) Allocation and Placement Service (APS) match run by the PMCV. To apply for a position, you must participate in the APS match.

2. Read Position Description
Download and read the relevant Position Description to make sure you understand what is expected of you:
3. Apply online
Click on the “Apply for Graduate Nurse Program (General Nursing)” or “Apply for the Graduate Nurse Program – Mental and Addiction Health Stream” links on this page. You will be prompted to register with LiveHire and will be required to complete the online application process.
You will need to answer questions regarding placements, work status and start date preferences. Once you complete this application form, you will receive an email to confirm that your application has been received.
Make sure you have the following documents ready as you need them to complete your application:
- Up to date resume/Curriculum Vitae (maximum of 3 pages and include referees)
- Please embed photo into your resume/Curriculum Vitae
- Please note a cover letter is not required. Candidates can provide further details in the Careers Intention section of the PMCV application.
- Most recent academic transcript/record (does not need to be certified)
- Details of two referees:
- Applicants can nominate up to two clinical referees
- Applicants can nominate up to two clinical referees on the GNMP PMCV website. Applicants can then enter details for each referee that you wish to complete a reference for you

- Clinical appraisals:
- For Graduate Nurse Program (General) - A copy of two recent Acute Clinical Appraisals. Please attach summary pages of Formative & Summary appraisals only & feedback page containing comments, and university ANSAT tool legend. Approximately 3-6 pages are sufficient. These documents do not need to be certified. Please provide clinical appraisals from Semester 2, 2024 and Semester 1, 2025.
- For Graduate Nurse Program (Mental and Addiction Health) - the most recent Clinical Appraisal Summary and Mental Health Clinical Appraisal Summary (does not need to be certified).
Resume tips
- Include overall objective or summary that shares a little about you
- Identify clearly your completed and current qualifications with dates (months and years)
- Clearly share each job you have had – dates, title, company and list 4-6 bullet points outlining the duties you performed
- Identify any key achievements you have made professionally
- Share your volunteer and community experience/involvement
Interview (General)
If your application is successful, you will be required to partake in a face-to-face interview.
Interview (Mental and Addiction Health)
You will be invited to attend an individual interview in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere if your application meets our initial selection requirements. You will be notified if you are successful for an interview via email.
Offer
The results of the Allocation and Placement Match will be provided to hospitals and candidates by PMCV on Wednesday September 17, 2025, via the GNMP PMCV website.
Eligible candidates, including Temporary Residents
Alfred Health only accepts Graduate Nurses who are eligible for the GNMP PMCV Allocation and Placement Service. Subject to approved working visas, Australian and New Zealand trained Temporary Residents are eligible and welcome to apply for Graduate Nurse positions (General and Mental Health streams).
