Safety first: managing agitation & aggression in the ED

Effective care for patients who present with agitation and aggression is a critical component of emergency practice. In providing this care, the safety of patients and carers is paramount. This Symposium will bring together all types of health professionals (nurses, doctors, allied health providers, administrators etc.) involved in Emergency Department care to explore opportunities for improving care and safety.

The'Safety First' symposium will explore the management of agitation and aggression in the ED setting.

Stakeholders from Ambulance Victoria, Victoria Police, the Department of Health and Human Services (Victoria), The Royal Melbourne Hospital, St Vincent's Hospital (Melbourne), Bairnsdale Hospital, The Alfred Hospital, emergency care consumers, and other key contributors, will come together to lead discussions and explore the opportunities to improve patient care whilst protecting carer safety.

Nurses, doctors, allied health providers and emergency administrators are all encouraged to attend and contribute to the progression of an agenda on this complex issue.
