Melanoma is the most harmful form of skin cancer, and Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world. In Victoria alone, approximately 2000 people are diagnosed with melanoma each year.
Research is invaluable, every dollar counts. Prof. Victoria Marr, Head of the VMS at The Alfred, continues to focus on looking at new and better ways to treat skin cancer and melanoma. With many new treatments being used and proving to be effective, there is much to learn about how to best use, sequence and combine these treatments. Our new database captures the details of patients including disease progression, the treatments used and the responses to these treatments and will advance our understanding of the disease and help prevent suffering and improve care.
The event hosted by Beryl Fell, honours her late husband Don. It is in his memory Beryl works tirelessly to help fund research to lead to better treatments and the hopes of a cure for melanoma.
It is a great night! There is a host of fantastic prizes and auction items up for grabs and everyone takes home a special Bright Star Ball gift bag.
Your support will help ensure The Alfred can continue essential research work into more effective treatments for melanoma.
