Mr Adam Zimmet
Mr Adam Zimmet is a Cardiothoracic & Transplantation Surgeon who has worked at The Alfred for over 15 years.
Adam received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Flinders University of South Australia in 1997. He was awarded his Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2008. In 2009 he undertook post-graduate training in Adult Cardiothoracic and Transplant Surgery at The University of Virginia Health System, Charlottesville, Virginia, USA.
Currently he holds a full-time appointment at The Alfred Hospital, performing most Adult Cardiac and Thoracic procedures, including temporary mechanical circulatory support and heart and lung transplantation. He also has admitting rights to Epworth Richmond and Epworth Eastern campuses, and Cabrini Hospital.
He is actively involved in clinical Cardiothoracic teaching, and he is currently the Supervisor of Cardiothoracic training at The Alfred. His other specific interests include total arterial revascularisation, aortic surgery, transcatheter aortic valve implantation, and thoracic organ transplantation.
