Prof Harshal Nandurkar
Prof Harshal Nandurkar is the Program Director for Alfred Cancer, Director of Clinical Haematology and head of the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases.
Professor Harshal Nandurkar is Director of Clinical Haematology Alfred Health and Program Director of Alfred Cancer. He is also the Head of the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases, Monash University. Professor Nandurkar completed his clinical and laboratory haematology training at Westmead Hospital, Sydney.
He undertook PhD research at The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute followed by postdoctoral research in the Department of Biochemistry, Monash University. His previous roles included tenured Professor at University of Melbourne and Director of Haematology at St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.
Harshal was recruited to Alfred Health and Monash University as Professor/Director in 2015. His research interests are in the development of novel cell-targeted antithrombotics, experimental models of cardiovascular diseases, and understanding the pathophysiology of antiphospholipid syndrome. He heads a vascular biology research group funded by NHMRC.
He is an active clinician with interests that cover benign haematology, malignant haematology, bleeding disorders and thrombosis. He delivers an outreach haematology service in Mildura.
He was past Vice President and also President of the Thrombosis and Haemostasis Society of Australia and New Zealand and Vice president of the international Union of Angiology (Australia Chapter).
