“This is a distressing event and we can have some strong reactions, depending our own personal experiences,” explains Alfred Health’s Director of Psychiatry, Associate Professor Simon Stafrace.
“Reaching out to family and friends as well as your colleagues is important at a time like this. Spend time looking after yourself. Don’t over-expose yourself to media stories about the tragedy.
“Be aware of how you are feeling and touch base with others you may be concerned about. Should you experience symptoms such as sleeplessness, anxiety, irritability, or fatigue, then talk to your local GP.
