Sandringham Hospital’s day procedure centre is a major step closer to reality following a significant donation from the Sandringham Community Bank.

The Sandringham Hospital Appeal is now almost halfway towards its $2.5 million target, thanks to the generous $500,000 donation from the bank.

Judy Reeves, Director of Nursing, said this was the single largest donation that Sandringham Hospital has ever received in its 52-year history.

“Like the Sandringham Hospital, the Sandringham Community Bank® is incredibly dedicated to the local community and this donation is testament to that,” Mrs Reeves said.

“This very generous gift takes us a major step forward towards our goal, but we need you – our community – to get behind us now and help us reach our $2.5 million target. As soon as we make that target, we can make the Sandringham Community Bank Day Procedure Centre a reality.”

Demand for same-day surgical procedures has increased by 50 per cent locally, stretching the hospital resources to capacity. In order to meet the needs of the growing community, the hospital needs to expand. The Sandringham Community Bank Day Procedure Centre will offer same-day surgical procedures locally, meaning patients can be cared for close to home.

"The Board of the Sandringham Community Bank® value the hospital as an integral part of the community, and as such, we are delighted to offer a contribution of $500K to support the Sandringham Community Bank Day Procedure Centre," said Felicity Thomlinson, on behalf of the Sandringham Community Bank® Board of Directors.

“We are very pleased to partner with a like-minded organisation that plays such an important role in our community. We look forward to seeing the proposed Sandringham Community Bank Day Procedure Centre providing an integral service to our community for many years to come.”
