Marathon walk raises vital funds

2 August 2016

Sandringham Hospital staff walk 600 kilometres to raise almost $11,000 in 24-hour marathon.

Sandringham Hospital staff hit the pavement for 24 hours straight over the weekend in a stunning display of community support.

The marathon walk, held to raise vital funds for the Sandringham Hospital Appeal, was a great success with around 50 staff members participating in the relay.

Beginning at midday on Friday 29 July, staff walked continuously through the night and into the next day around a circuit from Sandringham Hospital to Black Rock shops, along Beach Road to Sandringham, then Bay Road and back to the hospital - totalling an impressive 600km.

While the final amount it still being tallied, the group managed to raise almost $11,000.

All funds raised will go towards building the new Day Procedure Centre at Sandringham Hospital, which has been created to meet the needs of the growing local community.

Donations are still welcome. Please visit the Sandringham Hospital Gofundraise page to donate.
