Sandringham Community Bank Day Procedure Centre on its way
Sandringham’s new state-of-the-art day procedure centre will be open mid-2018 after building works kicked off this week.
Thanks to overwhelming community support and tireless efforts by the fundraising committee, the $2.5million capital appeal target has been reached.
Judy Reeves, Chair of the Sandringham Hospital Capital Appeal Steering Committee, said the centre would be a significant asset for the Bayside community.
“The Sandringham Hospital was built on community support, and this new facility would not have been possible without the strong backing we’ve received since this campaign began,” Mrs Reeves said.
“We’re so excited to be able to extend the high-quality health care we currently provide with this purpose built, dedicated facility, which will ensure patients don’t have to travel far from home for same-day procedures. We’ve had some incredibly generous donations from individuals and local organisations, and it’s been heartening to see how generous our community can be.”
The purpose-built facility will cater especially for patients undergoing orthopaedic, general, ophthalmology and gynaecology surgery. It will provide more private spaces for patients to meet with medical staff, a comfortable environment for recovery and improved accessibility.
The Sandringham Hospital Capital Appeal was launched in 2016.
