Intellectual property

Where Intellectual Property is created during the course of an Alfred Health Staff member's employment or as a result of use of resources, facilities or funds provided by Alfred Health, in the absence of any agreement in writing to the contrary, those Intellectual Property rights belong to and are owned by Alfred Health.

When Alfred Health staff become aware that Intellectual Property has been created they should follow the procedure set out in the Intellectual Property Policy. This is to ensure the Intellectual Property is protected. Staff must avoid acts or omissions which could jeopardise the ownership or protection of Intellectual Property rights.

Contact Alfred Health Legal Counsel before publication or other disclosure of the Intellectual Property or if the Intellectual Property could be commercialised.

Alfred Health's policy on Intellectual Property is located on the Alfred Connect (intranet). Select Policies & Guidelines (PROMPT) and search for Intellectual Property Policy.
