Melbourne Melanoma Project

The Melbourne Melanoma project is a research project that has multiple platforms to enable researchers to better understand melanoma.

Our collaborative effort as part of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre-led Melbourne Melanoma Project, funded by the Victorian Cancer Agency, has resulted in the identification of a new melanoma mutation.

Identified using whole exome sequencing, the mutation is consistent with the molecular profile of a UV-induced alteration. The functional significance that the mutation plays in tumour biology is worthy of further exploration, as is its potential as a target for immunotherapy.
