Clinical service overview
The Alfred Health Concussion Clinic is a state-wide service providing an outpatient, interdisciplinary intervention for people aged 16 and older. It has an acute focus of 0-6 months from injury and is for non-compensable patients. The clinic has a time limited, goal directed focus.
Eligibility Criteria
- Statewide service
- Age 16-80 years old
- Acute Concussion (0-6months since injury)
- Functional impact - not back to work/learn, drive, play, life
- Non-compensable - not eligible for TAC, Workcover
- Unable to access local services for concussion management
Exclusion criteria
- Chronic symptoms from a historic head injury or intracerebral haemorrhage
- Symptoms primarily attributable to post traumatic stress with minimal or no head injury
- Isolated primary headache syndrome
- Suspected cervical spine injury with no evidence of concussion symptoms
- Receiving intervention at another concussion service in the community

We accept GP and specialist referrals to this service.
All referrals are triaged by the service according to clinical urgency. Patients requiring immediate assessment should be sent to the Emergency & Trauma Centre.
