Getting to the Paula Fox Melanoma and Cancer Centre

There are several transport options for you to travel safely to the Paula Fox Melanoma and Cancer Centre.

Parking at the centre

There is patient parking available in the basement levels of the centre. This carpark can be access via the service lane on St Kilda Road. 

The car park is open Monday – Friday, 7.00am – 5.30pm. 

Enter: Turn left into the driveway, accessible via the service lane on St Kilda Road. 

Exit: Turn left out of the car park to head towards Alfred Lane. 

Fees

Car parking fees for the centre are available here.  

Concession rate parking is available for Pension and Health Care Card Holders. Tickets can be validated at the reception desks on Ground Floor, Level 1 and Level 2 of the centre only (not at The Alfred Main Reception or Alfred Centre Reception).

Public transport options

Tram 

Tram numbers 3, 5, 6, 16, 64, 67 and 72 stop on St Kilda Road at the Commercial Road intersection (Stop 25). This stop is an accessible stop and is a short walk to the centre (approximately 300m). 

Tram numbers 3, 5, 6, 16, 64 and 67 also stop on St Kilda Road at the Moubray Street intersection (Stop 26). This stop is also within walking distance to the centre (approximately 200m). 

Bus 

Bus numbers 603 and 604 stop on Moubray Street, near the corner of St Kilda Road, which is approximately a 200m walk to the centre. 

These same buses also stop on Commercial Road, just outside the main hospital. This stop is approximately a 350m walk to the centre. 

Train 

Prahran railway station is the closest train station (approximately 1km). Walk along Greville Street and continue down Moubray Street, turning right onto St Kilda Road.

Patient Drop Off & Pick Up

Alternatively, ask your driver to drop you off in the Basement Level 1 car park. This is accessible via the service lane on St Kilda Road. From here, you can access the lifts to take you to reception.

There is no payment required for vehicles in the car park for less than 15 minutes.

Walking from South Block to the centre 

The recommended walking route from South Block to the Paula Fox Melanoma and Cancer Centre is outlined in the map below and is approximately a 700m walk. There are resting locations in a number of locations along the path.

Patients and visitors heading to the centre from South Block will need to:

  1. Walk through the main hospital and out the main entrance to Commercial Road
  2. Turn left along Commercial Road towards St Kilda Road
  3. Turn left at the corner of Commercial Road and St Kilda Road
  4. Walk down St Kilda Road, the centre will come up on the left
