The Minderoo Foundation Wellness Centre is where we provide supportive care for patients and their loved ones, beyond traditional cancer treatments.
About the Wellness Centre Program
The Wellness Centre has been designed to provide a calming and relaxing environment with indoor and outdoor spaces for patients, families, and carers to visit and receive supportive care and therapy.
It is a dedicated home for our specialist team to focus on your health and wellbeing by providing education, health and symptom management, and holistic care through mind-body practices.
What’s on
The Wellness Centre program offers a range of integrative oncology therapies and services to complement conventional cancer treatments.
These include:
- Holistic mind-body therapies such as mindfulness, yoga, massage, and music therapy
- Individual and group allied health therapies including exercise programs
- Education programs, workshops, and support groups

Patients should speak to their treating doctor if they have any concerns about their ability to participate in any of the Integrative Oncology Program classes.
TREAT Rest and Recovery Meditation
Meditation sessions designed to help shift from stress arousal to a calm, renewed and relaxed state, where physiological healing and emotional regulation can occur.
Meditation classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday morning.
This small group class is led by a qualified instructor with a healthcare background, and no prior experience is needed.

Therapeutic yoga classes focusing on gentle movement and breath-based practices to relax the nervous system and promote wellbeing.
Yoga classes are held every Wednesday morning and Thursday afternoon.
This small group class is led by a qualified yoga teacher with a nursing/healthcare background. This class is adaptable to all abilities and no prior experience is required.

Current Alfred Cancer patients and/or one primary carer/immediate family member (must be aged 18 and over) can register for group classes in the Wellness Centre.
There is no fee to access group classes in the Wellness Centre.
To ensure equitable access, please do not book more than a month in advance as your situation may change.
If you are unable to attend a class, please notify us by email (cancerwellness@alfred.org.au) so that we can offer the space to someone else.
Group classes are capped at 8 participants per class.
