The Fairfield Centre

More than three years in the making, the new fit-out of The Fairfield Centre represents patient-centred care, informed by patients.

The Fairfield Centre is a key part of the Victorian HIV Service’s comprehensive range of HIV services built upon on the legacy of Fairfield House, which provided care for people living with HIV for over 20 years.

These HIV services include hospital based care, outpatient and specialist clinics, and community care. There are also a range of other HIV services provided across Victoria in partnership with various health services.

The Fairfield Centre is a unique service where you can receive inpatient care in a 5 bed ward operating 24/7 Monday to Friday, closing on Friday afternoon.

It focuses on care that can be planned and coordinated with your GP/HIV Specialist provided in inpatient setting. It usually involves multiple assessments or investigations and often multiple medical specialists involved in your care.

The nursing and medical team determine work with your GP or HIV Specialist to determine if The Fairfield Centre is the best hospital setting for your care needs, patients who are very unwell will be referred to the general HIV hospital beds.
