Our Board
Responsiveness along with sound and transparent decisions are key principles in Alfred Health’s governance process.
Alfred Health’s Board is accountable to the Minister for Health. Its role is to exercise good governance in achieving the objectives as outlined in Alfred Health’s Strategic Plan 2021-2023 and the Annual Statement of Priorities.
The Board comprises nine independent non-executive directors who are appointed for a period of up to three years and can be re-appointed to serve up to nine years.
Mr Martin Foley
Martin as an experienced Minister for Health and Minister for Mental Health brings an understanding of the community operations of the Health system.
Prof Christina Mitchell
Professor Christina Mitchell is Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences at Monash University having trained as a physician scientist specialising in clinical haematology.
Ms Melanie Eagle
Ms Eagle has qualifications in Law, Social Work, International Development, Arts and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Ms Chloe Shorten
Chloe Shorten is a national advocate for the rights of children and young people, Ms Shorten has been committed to improving the lives of women, children and people with disabilities through her 30-year involvement with not-for-profit organisations, particularly those in research.
Ms Anna Leibel
Anna Leibel is an experienced Company Director and C-suite executive across private and public service organisations that are highly regulated and asset-intensive. Anna has guided organisations in reconceiving products to achieve growth aspirations, overseeing sophisticated risk management approaches, and delivering services in complex compliance landscapes.
Mr Lynton Norris
Mr Norris is a consultant and experienced company director. He is a recognised leader in funding and payment models, policy development and review, performance assessment and reporting, and complex data analysis and analytics.
Ms Anne Howells
Ms Howells is a Chartered Accountant who is passionate about excellence in customer service, operations, compliance and corporate governance.
Mrs Sally Campbell
Ms Campbell brings extensive executive commercial and public sector experience to Alfred Health Board that has been earned in a wide range of organisations in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
Dr Abhishek (Abhi) Verma
Dr Abhi Verma is a an experienced clinician and non-executive director in the healthcare sector, with substantial experience in clinical governance and medical regulation. In addition to maintaining a number of portfolio board roles, Abhi remains active in clinical practice, and was awarded both the Victorian GP of the Year Award as well as the Australian GP of the Year Award in 2022.
