Loyalty cards
We looked at the effect of loyalty cards in our main cafe to investigate if they would encourage people to make healthier food choices.
We implemented a loyalty card: ‘buy ten green salads, get one free’, and watched what people bought.
This trial resulted in a 34% increase in ‘green’ salads sold and a 6% decrease in ‘red’ meals sold with no change in overall sales.
This resulted in 9,500 fewer ‘red’ lunches sold each year at just one of our cafes.

We have made loyalty cards and posters available to other health services and not-for-profit businesses.
