A/Prof James Mcfadyen

A/Prof James McFadyen is a Clinical Haematologist at the Alfred Hospital. He attends the Thrombosis and Clinical Trials outpatient clinics in addition to undertaking Haemostasis and Thrombosis Ward service. Having completed a PhD at the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases in platelet biology, his ongoing research supported by National Health and Medical Research Council and National Heart Foundation Early Career Fellowships is specifically aimed at developing novel, platelet targeted anti-thrombotics and platelet targeted therapeutics for inflammatory and malignant disease.

Additionally, A/Prof McFadyen is an investigator on a number of thrombosis/haemophilia clinical trials. He has won both national and international awards for his research in addition to publishing his research in a number of leading international journals such as Nature Communications, Circulation, Circulation Research and Nature Reviews Cardiology. James serves as a regular reviewer for international journals and is Vice President of the Thrombosis and Haemostasis Society of Australia and New Zealand and member of the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis and the Haematology Society of Australasia and New Zealand.
