Regulation of growth factor activity
The insulin-like growth factor (IGF) system is perturbed in many diseases, including diabetic complications and cancer. Professor Bach’s laboratory studies IGF binding protein-6 (IGFBP-6) and, particularly, its role as an IGF-II inhibitor in cancer.
In 2014 the group showed that IGFBP-6 has different effects in two ovarian cancer cell lines, which may lead to novel insights into its actions.
