Emergency, trauma & intensive care

The Alfred Emergency & Trauma Centre provides timely, quality care for the people of Victoria.

Our Intensive Care Unit is a specially staffed and equipped to care for patients with life threatening or potentially life threatening conditions.

The Major Trauma Service is one of three Victorian Major Trauma Services (The Alfred, The Royal Melbourne Hospital and The Royal Children's Hospital) and we treat more than half of all major Victorian trauma cases.

Heart & lung

We offer an extensive and specialist cardiothoracic services, including heart and lung transplantation, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery and cardiac rehabilitation.
